Well, that’s a good question! While applying to universities (colleges) across the US can be similar, there are a few key points to watch out for when writing your personal admissions essays and supplemental essays for New York:
⦁ New York University (NYU) is one example of a college that changes their essay prompt frequently. Yes, they usually only have one supplemental college admissions essay! So, be sure you are always preparing with the updated prompts for colleges you apply to, and read their admissions pages to gain insight into what they’re looking for. Check the university’s website and the Common Application for the latest admissions essay prompts.
⦁ There are a lot of colleges on the East Coast, so be sure to take a detailed look at the options you have in and around New York before making a college list and submitting university applications. A college counselor can help you build a list of safety, target, and reach schools that can help you reach your goals; they can also be admissions essay editors and help ensure your essays flow well and fully answer the prompts.

Of course, college application deadlines vary every year and are subject to change. However, generally the New York University’s undergraduate early admissions college applications deadline is in late October, or the first couple days of November. Keep in mind in addition to the Regular Decision college admissions deadlines most colleges have in late December or early January, NYU offers an Early Decision II round, also usually in early January.
